How to Join the WATAG Network

In short: This guide sets out the steps to join the WATAG network. It names the information you need to have ready, the form you will complete, and the confirmation you will receive. You will end with a record of your membership and a contact at the WATAG office in Abuja.

Before you start

You need three things before you complete the membership form.

  • Your full name as it appears on your official identification.
  • A working email address you check regularly.
  • The name of the Nigerian state and local government area where you live.

Steps

  1. Visit the WATAG website. Find the page named Join the Network.
  2. Read the membership information on that page. The text describes the network's purpose and the activities members take part in.
  3. Complete the membership form on the page. Enter your name, your email address, your state and your local government area.
  4. Write a short note in the form field. State which area of WATAG work interests you most: women political participation, budget reading, policy analysis, or government accountability.
  5. Submit the form. The website will show a confirmation message on your screen.
  6. Check your email inbox. Look for a message from info@watag.com.ng. The email arrives within two working days.
  7. Keep the confirmation email. File it in a folder you use for civic group records.

What to do if it goes wrong

Sometimes a step does not work as expected. Follow these steps if you face a problem.

  • The form does not submit. Check each field for missing information. Ensure you have entered a valid email address. Try submitting the form again.
  • You do not receive a confirmation email. Wait two full working days. Check your spam or junk mail folder. If the email is not there, call the WATAG office at +234 907 279 9835. Give your name and the date you submitted the form.
  • You make a mistake on the form. Send an email to info@watag.com.ng. State your name, the mistake you made, and the correct information.

What you should end with

After you complete these steps, you will hold a confirmation email from WATAG. The email states your name, the date you joined, and the WATAG contact for network members. This email is your record of membership.

What WATAG does with this

The Join the Network programme trains women to build connections with other members. A participant in the programme learns to use the network directory, practises sending messages through the network, and prepares to meet other members at WATAG events.
